The Shell Cove Golf Club house forms a key feature to the master planned Shell Cove Community and as such is a desirable family / community facility. The design of the club house harmonises with the coastal context in terms of the external design and colour materials selections. The site is visible from residential and public areas and the design addresses the visual impact issues associated with this.

The overall appearance of the building in the landscape is a horizontal form excavated into the hillside having a single storey appearance when viewed from the main approach. It is sited as a narrow shape along the contours to minimise excavation and provide a horizontal form in the landscape.

A variety of pavilion style roofs are used in the design with a main skillion roof blending with the slope of the site. A transparent feel is provided through the building with an articulated plan form which utilises a mixture of materials in keeping with the coastal characteristics.

The variety of floating roof forms, the textures, bow shaped decks with ‘mast’ elements, shade sail structures, and maritime and coastal colour scheme reflect the environment in which the Club sits.
